Blogging is Communicating - Commit to Comment

I took a poll on twitter to find out if people wanted blog authors to reply to comments left by their readers. Hands down - everyone who responded said yes. I asked the question because I'm not a pro blogger (if there even is such a thing) and I wanted to make sure that I wasn't falling short on delivering value to my supporters.

What I learned from asking this question is that people want two way communication when reading blogs just like any other form of communication. If you've taken the time to post a comment, the least I can do is take the time and show some love by reciprocating with a simple thank you or other relevant feedback.

I pledge to you, my readers and friends, that I will immediately begin to interact, engage, and communicate with you more here on my blog. For those of you who have blogs, I challenge you to do the same.

Talk to you soon...

  1. Hi Donna,

I do try to respond to people who comment on my blogs. However, to often I approve a comment when I have just a second, making a mental note to get back to respond to the comment. And to often I don't make it back. I need to get much more timely when it comes to that.

Speaking of suggestions: I lot of people do not comment on blogs at blogger if the blog doesn't have the "Anyone - includes Anonymous Users" set in the comments section of blogger. I personally hate referring people to my blogger account as most of my blogs don't reside at blogger, and I use Open ID simply for avatar purposes.

So I believe that your readers will comment more if you have that feature turned on.

  2. Hey Leisa!

Thanks for taking the time to comment and leave that valuable piece of feedback. I've now changed the settings so that Anyone - Including Anonymous users will have easy access to leave comments as well!
